| Just want to buy a class III firearm. I don't want to be a dealer but I do want to purchase more than one class III firearm. I know I have to get a signed paper from the local law enforcement official, what does this signature have to be on, an official form? What else do I need to get multiple class III rifles? Also, I know this isnt the place to sell but I have a few nice semi-autos to sell in my quest to go full auto... Let me know, thnaks! |

Here's the deal: Make sure your state allows Class 3 (yours does). Next, don't be a felon or otherwise unable to possess firearms (I'll assume you're OK). Next, find out whether your CLEO will sign off- don't barge in and ask him, find a local dealer and find out the deal. If he does not, there are other options you can explore (certain judges, certain prosecutors and US attorney etc. can sign off). Next, find out what you want, buy it and fill out the FORM 4, attach fingerprint cards, passport photo and citizenship form- basically, follow the instructions on the form to a T. Go here for the forms: http://www.titleii.com/. You can't pick up your item until the form comes backs approved. If it is coming from out of state, you have to provide a FFL/SOT in your area who can recieve the item for you after purchase. That goes to him on a Form 3. You can't do your Form 4 until after the Form 3 is done and the item is shipped to your local dealer. That takes about 30 days. The Form 4 approval is about 90 days (sometimes more). It's a lot easier than you think- I have done quite a few and it gets easier every time. |

Steve How tolerant is Norfolk regards the CLEO sign off for Class III ownership? I am temporarily exiled up here in NY (military), but will be returning to Norfolk in a 18 months. I would like to buy a Class III firearm/suppressor when I return. Oh Yeah; I miss the Tidewater area a lot. It's gun paradise compared to New York (especially NYC) |

Va Beach is NOT a problem and the CLEO basically has a policy that so long as your NCIC checks out, you're OK- that's the way it should be. When you come back, can you move to the beach? As you now, it's just next door. |
