I brought this up yesterday (actually at 3am this morning), but there weren't too many replies.  Unfortunately it is late again, but I hope there are some nightowls who can help.  With the expiration of the AWB-assuming it will happen[%(]- what are the ramifications to AR building?  Will we be able to "open it up" some; ie tele-stocks, shorter barrels, hi-cap mags, etc? Any and all posts appreciated.  Searcher- thanks for the Cope feedback, it helped my perspective very much.

Assuming the AWB sunsets, and is replaced by nothing, there will be no need for a distinciton between pre and post ban.  You would be able to add a telestock, flash hider and bayonet lug to your previously post ban rifle.  As to high cap mags, the sunset of the ban will not affect those unless the companies that currently make them for the govt and LEO's starts selling them to the public again.  Write your senators and reps and let them know how you feel.  That's the only way it will happen.

All of the "evil feature" restrictions will disappear if no other ban is put in place, but the minimum legal barrel length will STILL BE 16 inches, as mandated by the NFA '34.

THE ABOVE IS ONLY TRUE OF DOMESTICALLY MANUFACTURED WEAPONS as defined by the no more the 10 imported parts crap...

Assembling a foreign made weapon into a "non sporting" configuration that was not importable post '89 is still a no - no regardless of the sun setting.
