I am looking on starting up a shooting range for training purposes.
Range is not initially intended as a public access shooting facility, however depending on insurance and other factors that may become an option.
Have worked at / managed several ranges over the years and it may be time to give it a go.

Things I have started the ball rolling on:

1.) contacted insurance carriers to discuss insurance issues
2.) ordered NRA range development guide.
3.) shopping for appropriate real estate.

Has anyone any guides / thoughts / experience on how to deal with the other issues?

Things like
1.) Noise issues
2.) Lead contamination of ground water
3.) Zoning / Land Use Permits
4.) Proper safe zones, impact areas, distance from public rds

Anything else I am missing?

I am really interested in hearing from those who have been involved in the process to see how much I am really biting off here.

Thanks for any input
