I got some Gun Scrubber and it seems like some pretty good stuff.

How and where do you all use it?

brake cleaner is 1/6th the cost and is the same stuff.

I use it all the time. It's great for hard to clean spots.

You could always make meth with it

Honestly, I don't use gun scrubber.  I use a foaming bore cleaner, powder blaster and a gun oil afterwards.

Just don't use it on a 10/22.  The newer receivers are painted (in case you didn't know...) and that stuff takes the finish right off.

as the poster above said

don't use on painted surfaces like the 10/22 and also be careful not to use it on plastics...  they do make a "synthetic" safe version.

also, be careful of condensation because sometimes it comes out really cold and will leave condensation on metal parts that you don't want and make sure too oil right away.

that being said, I used to use this stuff after every range trip and decided to stop doing that.  I'd really only use it now if I happened to get sand/mud in the action (which is highly unlikely at the range)... now I stick to CLP and a rag

I was going to post the same, ask me how I know?  I use carb cleaner as its less aggressive than brake cleaner.

Fail.

Brake Cleaner (most popular being Brake Kleen) is made from Tetrachloroethylene (Perc).
Gun Scrubber is made from Trichloroethylene (Tric).

I use Gun Scrubber as my degreaser of choice on both my guns and my motorcycle.
I use Brake Kleen as my degreaser of choice when I work on my car or I am cleaning up the garage floor.

Gun Scrubber evaporates faster and it leaves no residue while Brake Kleen takes a bit longer to evaporate and it leaves a slightly "oily" film.

Um, Brake Kleen leaves an oily film on one's brake parts?  Better check that.

This has been my experience with Brakleen as well. I also buy the "synthetic safe" Gun Scrubber, and hit the guns with a generous shot of compressed air before oiling.

why all the de-greasing of your guns?  clp and a rag is all that is needed... I think more damage is done with all the "extra" cleaning
