[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Question about M1 purchase from CMP

Since I only live maybe 1.5 hours from the Anniston location, what is the process like for me to go and pick one up at the store? Assuming I have my CCW permit and Garand collectors Club membership proof, can i just walk in and pick one out? Or do I need to order ahead of time?

I'm posting this in GD for a faster response than the M1/M1a board.

Yes, you can pick one out. Paperwork will be the same. Suggest you call ahead to see what they have in stock. Inventory can vary quite a bit.

Yup just walk in pick one out fill out the paperwork and wait till they file and nics you and walk out with it. Took me about 30 minutes after picking one.

You'll need your birth certificate or DD214 as well.

I just ordered one the other day. I live about another hour farther away and considered driving there. In the end I figured paying $23 for delivery to the door made more sense. I'm getting one of the Service Grade Springfield Specials. With collector grade metal in a new manufacture stock I figured picking my own out wouldn't get me one much better than what they'll ship on their own.

I spoke directly to CMP the other day and they told me to just come on over with my Military ID in hand and pick out any gun I wanted.
