| I hate NFL OT where first team to score wins! They should do like college. |

I prefer the college system. A team shouldn't lose in OT without even getting their offense on the field. they had 60 minutes to win the game... screw em. And then when it comes down to deciding, you flip a coin? Yeah, that's what I pay to go see when I'm at a football game. NFL OT rules suck. |

Or Farve could have just not thrown 2 INTS and the rest of the team could have not fumbled 3 times. Or Farve could have just ran for a couple yards at the end of regulation instead of throwing an INT. Then at least the Vikes could have tried a FG.
The NFL's OT rules are just fine. There is no reason for the NFL to take a 7-7 game at the end of regulation and by the end of it having a 45-52 game. |

I always thought it would be a great OT system if it worked like this... No fieldgoals in OT, must go for touchdowns. If a team scores a touchdown, the other team receives kick and must go for 2 points if they score as well. That way it's almost a lock there won't be a 2nd OT....you could gamble on the first point if you wanted to go for two to protect the lead, and both teams get a chance. |

You do realize the Farve/Peterson lost the game for the Vikes more than the Saints won the game? I counted at least 3 times that the Vikings could have won the game or at least gave themselves a chance to try and win. Plus lets not count the two times the vikings turned the ball over in the redzone. Maybe the NFL should have outlawed fumbles. Now one thing I would like to see is this. If the NFL is going to allow replay review then all things should be reviewable. That pass interference call in OT was bogus and shouldn't have happened. That's were my issues with the rules are. |

It should just be another 15 minutes of play, whoever is winning at the end wins the game. Without a doubt. Why not just toss the coin...to determine the winner. Doesn't happen that way all the time but come on, as another poster said, the coin toss loser might not even get their offense on the field. How is that a "tie breaker"?

College OT sucks, too. It eliminates special teams and, to a large extent, defense.
The best OT system, I think, would be to guarantee one possession for each team, with sudden death afterwards if it's still tied. Quoted:

What you quoted above were my thoughts before tonight's game. The college system isn't perfect, but each team has their offense and defense on the field before a winner is determined. The NFL system puts too much importance on the flip of a coin. |
