| With the price of silver at $16.97 an ounce today, where are some of the best places to buy from online? Plus, who doesn't kill you on shipping costs? Thanks guys. |

Find a local dealer and offer a lower price for a bulk order.
I've met plenty of folks who will sell at or below the melt price to liquidate a large pile. Unless you are looking for pure ingots, go with coins. They will only be 90%, and they will be worn, so some metal will be worn off, but once you find a good source you can usually beat the spot price with no problem. |

Quoted: Buy local, pay cash and get to know the people at the store. It does not hurt to have a friendly local source for silver and gold. My C.C. and the post office/UPS/Fed Ex does not need to know what I am buying. I found a local shop that sold me five or six Morgans for $15 a pop and a few others for half of his marked price. I think it was because I went in there in uniform after a doctor's appointment. Going to have to pay him a visit when I go back in a couple of weeks. |

What kind of "local" store sells gold and silver?
Ha! There's one in my town! Liberty Coin Service Are such businesses common? |

Quoted:
Apmex hits you hard with the cedit card fee, but they will accept personal checks. They hold the silver until the check clears, then ship. I think that's fair. They only charge the CC cost to those who actually use CCs, rather than spreading it among everyone, like most businesses do. Helps keep the cost down for those who use other methods. So if you want to avoid it, pay with check or MO. |

I think what they do is offer a discount to people paying cash, right? Same thing, but terminology that skirts the issues. |

Watch out for local shops though. Some will give you a great deal, some will not. I've been to a place giving me a "deal" by selling rounds for over $2.50 over spot. Apmex is pretty good, especially when you consider the you can get the shipping cost per ounce down pretty far if you buy enough. I believe that they charge a max of $25 for shipping. |
