After the anointed one was elected, the oilfield dried up like a motherfucker. I was let go due to this.
was making decent money in the 6 figures and I was able to provide with ease for my family. 4 kids and my wife.
Along with paying my Dad's rent and car payment. He deserves it and I didn't mind doing that.

Well I was unemployed for 3 months and that was an eternity for me and the fact of how big of a fam we are etc.
I found a great job, just doesn't pay for shit. I actually enjoy what I am doing and my boss and the owner are great to work for.

Golden handcuffs so to speak.

Last week I heard from my old boss and is offering me my position back with the same pay scale I left at. I only lose seniority....like I give a shit, no union etc.
My wife is supportive of going back. I don't really want to go back due to the constantly being gone and working on the rigs again.
If I went back, my wife would go back to school and finish her degree and then hopefully get a better job so I can come back to the real world and be home ever night.
If I don't go back, I am basically robbing peter to pay Paul. We have refinanced the house and vehicles and we are barely scraping by.
I see long term with my present company and not long term with the oilfield. Again I hate being gone for the extended periods of time.

Just curious what the hive has to suggest. Right now if I go back, I can go back to paying my Dads rent and also helping my mom financially since my I paid his vehicle off right b4 I was let go.

IM the opinions of me personally so we can not lock this thread...

HMMMM Well if you r family NEEDS you to go to your other job then I would go. If you explain to your new job why you HAVE to go perhaps they may be open to hiring you again when your wife starts making enough doe to sustain the family with you.

If your family can get by and you like your jobb and are sure it will pan out to something good then I would think about staying.

Better money is hard to pass up though. If you think it is temporary and your ass will be unemployed again you might not want to take that risk though because you may not be able to come back to a job you like.

Do a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life. (unknown)

Aren't you the guy who punched a dog in the chest to try and spread the cancer it was suffering from? I have some advice for you but I don't think you'd appreciate it.
