Tomorrow Im upgrading to windows 7 and want to go 64 bit. Right now I have 2 gigs of memory and was wanting to upgrade to 4 gigs, but is this possible with my specs(i know it will physically fit into the slots).

My current specs as I know them:
Intel Core Duo T2500(2.0Ghz,667 Mhz FSB, 2mb L2 cache)
2gb ddr2( says "support dual-channel)

Right now I have two 1 gig sticks and was hoping to go to two 2 gig sticks.
Will these work???

Thanks as always.

I know that they are the right size physically but its the speed Im concerned about.

it should work just fine.  You can pretty much always get faster memory than you need. it will just run at the necessary speed

I just hope my cpu will handle 64 bit.

a lot of memory companies (ie Crucial) have tests on their websites that will tell you what memory will work with your motherboard.

A quck read seems to show that the Core line is 32 bit only and the Core 2 series is 64 bit.  Worst case the installer will tell you that you have the wrong version.  Even at 4GB of RAM you will be in the range that a 32 bit OS can use.

Oh, ok well I will just stick with xp until needed. I was just switching for shits and giggles.
Thanks.

Crucial memory scanner.

Also, you really need to check your motherboard to see if 64 bit will work.  Do you have the mobo number?

ETA: According to Intel, your processor is 32 bit only.
