As I listened yesterday to Obama’s speech
at the Coakley (1,100 in attendence) Event yesterday, I was struck by
when he was actually emotionally engaged. It wasn’t when he was trying
to make the aloof and arrogant Martha seem “one of the folk” while at
the same sneering that Scott Brown drives a truck. It was here:

Now, we’ve recovered most of your money already, but I
don’t think “most of your money” is good enough. We want all our money
back. We’re going to collect every dime. (Applause.) That’s why I
proposed a new fee on the largest financial firms — to pay the American
people back for saving their skin.

The near rage that radiated out of those lines statements,
statements we have heard in the week running up to the event and said
with similiar barely-restrained rage seemed too familiar to me. This is
not the calculated emotion of politics — a Hugo Chavez faux-populist
rant while greedily nationalizing businesses. This is something more.

This is rage against those that Obama feels “owe” him. And owe him in perpetuity.

If you have ever found yourself in a toxic relationship (an intimate
or friend), or know someone who has gone through one, then you can
recognize what it is that finally animates Obama.

Obama is the friend/parent/sibling who, when you lose your job,
lends you a month’s rent. You get on your feet, pay him back. Thank him
by taking him to dinner or giving him a small gift. But now he won’t
ever shut up about how he is responsible for your new
successes. He asks for favors and if you pause or show reluctance he
reminds you again and again of how he helped you. Indeed, if you
disagree with him on anything he throws it in your face “what makes you
think you are so smart? You failed and I saved YOU!” Even months and
years after you have paid him back, done extra favors for him, every
success you achieve he will claim is really his. Every small luxury you
buy for yourself or loved ones he will make a snarky remark about.

Obama truly believes that regardless of whether a bank paid back their TARP loans or even took them in the first place, all financial institutions OWE HIM. Forever.

He will damn you, rage at you, and vow to destroy you in public with
an emotion he doesn’t feel over any other issue, if you don’t surrender
yourself to him.

Watch Obama’s rage at those that defy him repeat itself at Democrat
political events during all of 2010. Coakley’s event was the template.
