At my parent's house my Dad ran up the bill to 974 dollars.

He just turns the thermostat up to the maximum in the early evening then forgets to turn it off when he leaves in the morning. The only reason the bill is not higher is because I come by during the week to check on the dogs, garbage, etc... so I turn it off.

He still yells at me if I leave a porch light on when I leave the house, I explain that I do it so when he and my mom come home they dont trip on anything on the way in.

He tells me I am wasting energy by leaving the porch light on.

Nice!  I get to do that for a month or so every spring and fall, but not this time of year.  Although, it was warm enough today that I turned off the heat and opened some windows.  Hopefully I can do that all week.
