...is the funniest Calvin and Hobbes  character written.

My favorite one is  when Spaceman Spiff, hears the aliens talking about him, so he jumps out from around the corner and lights them up with his blaster.  The next frame is his parents with company over looking at Calvin dumbfounded with suction cup darts stuck in their foreheads.

He  does tend to get a little carried away with his fantasies. Imagine him nowadays, as a twentysomething.

My faves were when he was playing with his transmogrifier.

"Hi Mom, I'm an owl."
"You don't look like a very happy owl."
"Well, I can't change back to a kid in time for school. The other kids'll laugh at me."
"Oohh, poor baby, you'd better stay home today."

Calvin (doing a happy dance) "Happy days are here again..."

Hobbes tells him later that its Saturday and school's closed.

I loled when he was a tyrannosaur, and bit his mom on the ankle. Or anything he did to his babysitter. Like when he locked her out.

I had all of the books growing up.  Kept them for a long time and re-read them many times.  My older brother finally swiped them all.  He did make up for it though by buying me this.  I forgave him.

I'm still partial to Tracer Bullet, Private Eye but Spaceman Spiff is a very close second.

Final strip.

I remember that sigh I let out after reading it.  I can't believe it's over.

Edit:  From wiki - The United States Postal Service announced on December 30, 2009 that a Calvin & Hobbes postage stamp will be issued in July 2010
