Hey Team,
I am interested in starting a build on an AR variant in .308. (my first) I am trying to stay away from Armalite because I understand they only accept proprietary mags and BCG's. I seem to be having some trouble locating a thread on arfcom that specifically relates to a build of this nature. Any and all info regarding this subject or simply some directions to a thread on this is greatly appreciated. also I will be sure to post in the appropriate forum from here on out lest the flamage begin. Thanks, FM |
| Well, if you don't like the Armalite/Knights/Fulton/DPMS/LWRC/POF type of AR10 mags, what kind of mags would you prefer to use? CMMG has a lower that uses G3 mags, those are cheap. But brand new AR10 mags are still only $19 for a PMAG or $18 for a C Products mag. They aren't terribly expensive. |

just buy a dpms, change trigger, change barrel and you'll be set
you need to look in the AR10 forum and the arvarients forum under the AR15 section stand by for SS |

after much research I went with a aero precision lower that is armalite compatible ( modern armalite ) It was a very satisfying build and now i have a nice big boomstick. I'm pretty sure you can throw a Noveske upper on there and go to town. I chose the armalite 20 inch upper. semi auto .308 is heaven.
oh and if you are remotely handy you can get m14 mags and mill a hole and have a good mag for your ar10. M14 mags are real cheap. |

I was more referring to Armalite Lowers only taking Armalite mags. So what if I were to get mags from POF or the like? Is this a non issue? Non issue if you live in Mississippi as your user info states, and don't have to worry about your mags being "pre-ban". C Products for $18, work great: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MCPAR308&groupid=14
Magpul P Mags for $19, also work great: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MMag243Blk&groupid=14
P.S. The Massoud will use this type of magazine as well. Its a well proven mag design. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjqANeOwuNU |

Commercial rifle compatibility includes the KAC SR25, DPMS LR308, LMT 7.62 MRP, LaRue Tactical OSR, LWRC REPR, POF P-308, and more (not compatible with Armalite AR-10 or M14/M1A). |

Tired of lugging that heavy 308 AR around? Coming soon a new size upper that is compatible with DPMS LR type 308 lowers. The I.T.S.-12 is what the 308 AR should have been, between the AR15 and AR10 in size. This upper will use all of your favorite AR15 float tubes or quad rails to give you a larger choice and a lighter weight. Designed with hunters in mind these uppers will be available with 18" mid weight barrels close to a AR15 SPR contour (.800/.700) and when coupled with a lightweight float tube could make a 7 lb rifle. The first 25 will have billet receivers and stainless match barrels then when we get the production barrels in, the price will drop to reflect the change. 308 should be ready in Jan 2010
