Poll inbound.

I like the idea of using the CompM3 because I can get a 2 MOA dot.  I don't care for the Micro's 4 MOA dot, but I do like how compact it is.

Which would be more rugged and durable?

I have both...Both VERY durable and reliable.  I believe there is some torture tests out there and they hold up quite well.  If the size of the dot is the most important thing to you than go with the M3 (night vision compatible) or ML3 (no night vision compatibility).

I'd take the micro.

I don't get ARFCOM's hate for the Micros 4 MOA dot.  I've used both to eotech, and the MARS sights, both with 1 MOA dots and I find I prefer the larger easier to find dot of the Aimpoint.

Those who parrot that the larger dot is less accurate forget that a M16 front sight is something like 22-24 MOA wide.  Larger sight does not mean less accuracy.

I find that the 4 MOA dot can be a little more of a PITA when doing load development for my reloads.  Then again, the 4 MOA dot being easier to find is an advantage to.

I've got a CompM3 with the 2MOA dot and a Micro T1 along with several other Aimpoints.

The M3 is my least favorite Aimpoint because my eyes have (very slight) astigmatism and I perceive deformation in the 2MOA dot that I don't get at all with the 4MOA dot.  That bugs me, especially when I need a fine point for distance shooting.  The 1 MOA in my EOTech looks just fine to my eyes, btw.

The Micro kicks ass in every way, too!

Damn.  I only wish I had the kind of coin that could buy "several Aimpoints"

When I'm sitting at the bench, I like the 2 MOA dot.  When I'm running drills, the strength of the 4 MOA dot is evident.  The Micro is small, light, rugged= WIN.

Probably go with the Micro then, if I don't break down and get an ACOG.  If I ever need the rifle to defend myself, it ain't gonna be happening from a bench.
