This is the MODIS satellite picture from Saturday afternoon. It’s clear over much of Lower Michigan with lake-effect clouds over much of Lake Michigan. Note the open water in some of the deeper inland lakes up north like Crystal Lake, Torch Lake and Lake Charlevoix. And…my favorite!…the 40-mile tornado track west of Green Bay (white line that goes from SW to NE) is still very plainly visible. The tornado tore through the Nicolet Forest on June 7, 2007 and was more than 1/2 mile wide. It destroyed 14,000 acres of forest. Any bets on whether the Lions win a playoff game before the forest grows back and we can’t see the scar? Story Orginial Picture |

Story Orginial Picture Spent a week up there running a chainsaw after that trying to help people reclaim their property..... It really is an amazing sight, even to this day |
