| does anybody have any experience with Lowe's Kobalt Tools? If so, are they any good and do they have a decent warranty? |
|
The early Kobalt stuff was made by Williams in GA, later they switched to Danaher making it mostly in NC (Danaher aslo makes Allen, Matco, Gearwrench, etc as well as much of the Craftsman line).
The US made stuff is pretty good- equal to thso others I listed. I have never had any hassles on a warranty exchange. But look, as not all is US made and the quality on the imports is a bit lower. Still better than most other imports, however. |

not junk ok value about like Stanley not as good as Craftsman Last I checked, Kobalt's sockets and, I imagine, their wrenches and ratchets, are made by Danaher Corporation in the USA, the same people who make Craftsman Hand Tools, and carry a lifetime warranty. Judging from some of the responses here, NineLivez, you would probably be best served by searching over at http://www.garagejournal.com/ |

I have a few and haven't had a problem. Off the top of my head, a plumber's wrench and bolt cutters. Neither are wearing out on me. Admittedly I haven't done tons of pipe work, but I've used the bolt cutter a fair bit. So I'd buy again, especially on a budget. The Ryobi driver set I tried is a different story... |

Take this for what it's worth.
I think that they're fine, lower-end, tools. When I equip the boxes that go in the service vehicles for racing, I buy Kobalt almost exclusively now, as I like the quality better than Husky. They're cheap enough I don't cry when they get lost or never returned, but they do the job. At the shop, I don't use them, unless I need cheap wrenches to modify. |
| fwiw right now napa and carquest are having killer sales on their tool line up i believe throught the end of the month . my expieriance with kobalt has been meh at best. Our newest shop truck is mostly kobalt and ill tell ya the warrenty is good and no hassle but if you use them hard youll need that warrenty |
