A company I have never heard of sent my wife a certified mail, claiming that a contractor who did work for her last September did not pay them for $9,000 roofing materials, and they are going to put a lien on her properties if she doesn't pay them.  She called them on it and they told her not to worry and that she doesn't have to do anything.  I told her to send them a certified mail with return receipt that she had never employed such contractor nor had any roofing work done, and if they try to put a lien on her property we will take legal action.

I hope this will put an end to the shenanigan.  I think they sent these letters to small individual investors trying to scam them into paying.
