Quoted: I'm always looking for new ideas on holster carry...thanks for sharing How does if feel when running or moving abruptly? You should try it out and model it for us I'm not as pretty to look atETA: It's very secure while running, jumping, laying down, etc. Doesn't move at all. And even if it did get loose, it's easy to press your right arm up against it. Probably wouldn't be good for hanging upside down though. |
| Your gun will fall out very easily. A good carry holster will retain the gun when it is not being worn. I have crashed my cycle(dual sport) several times and the gun stays in place, yours will not in a similar situation. Any decent change in direction and the gun will be on its' own. A smart carry needs the help of being IWB to secure the gun. |

As for the rest of your post, I'll just let everyone judge for themselves. Take your word even though you've never even tried it. Or take my word, which is based on 2 years of experience using it almost daily. |

I used a Smart Carry for a while too. They work pretty well. I needed to carry more junk and went to a Truss setup. http://www.specgear.com/Truss.html |

It doesn't look very accessible. I wear mine just above the belt and it works pretty good. You can also twist it a bit with the straps in place or remove the straps if you prefer. I just like that there are enough pockets to hold 2 mags, my knife, baton and cuffs. I used to put a handkerchief in the bottom of the SmartCarry to lift the weapon out a bit more. It worked better in jeans when carrying in the front. I used a Survival Sheath chest holster for a while too. It would be great on a motorcycle, but not so good for general concealment. |

I don't need actual experience because I know how that type of holster works, it relies on the pressure placed upon it from both sides by being inside your pants. If you were to trip and fall the release of tension and forward momentum will send the gun out of the holster. I suppose as long as your carrying a gun with a manual safety it doesn't matter if the gun pops out. I just don't want to read about you or someone else getting shot because you weren't wearing you holster properly and the gun fell out. I know GD is all about attacking anything anyone else does, but I am not trying to do that. Maybe sew in a retention strap with a snap that goes around the back of the grip to hold it in place in case you get upside down for some reason. |
