Does the gauge of the wire matter?

Monoprice.com has cables that are put together from 22, 24, 26 and 28 gauge wire.

What size should I get if I only need a 6' cable?

Also, are the gold connectors better than the silver? They are pretty much the same price.

i thought hdmi cables only have one size since they just transfer 0's and 1's

amazon.com is an excellent source also and free shipping, i buy all my AV stuff from them- the mediabridge ones are really good, i own 6 pairs.

No, it doesn't matter at 6 feet.  Just get the cheapest one from Monoprice/Meritline you can find.

Whatever is cheapest.

Gold doesn't corrode as quickly - likely part of the specification.

I ordered a 6' 28AWG cable with gold connectors, it cost me a whopping $7 after shipping.

Digital isnt very succeptible to radio interference, if the transcievers are set up with a decent detector the shielding / conductor wont matter at all.

The reason for gold as a conductor is that it doesnt oxidize aggresively.
Copper is as effecient a conductor - in an indoor environment you wont know the difference.

Get the no-frills version and be done with it.
