I recently tried but failed to get the local Republican (gun friendly?) Sheriff Bob Alford to sign my ATF form 4.  Then I could send off to ATF for my Tax stamp for my suppesor.   Slam dunk right?  He states after 9/11 he no longer will sign the forms short barrel rifles, full autos, or supressors.  Says they might get stolen from my alarmed house, and 1000 lbs safe.  Last time I check the towel heads didn't use any of those during 9/11.  But, I digres,  is there anyway around a non friendly Johnson, Co. Texas non friendly gun right sheriff.  I just want to apply.  Isn't that a right the government has allowed me?  Thanks for the help!

Trust!

My jackass murder protecting sheriff played games with me too. I picked up the phone that day and had a trust made.

Here is your answer.  Super simple to setup and way cheaper than calling a lawyer.  After you look at the NFA trust info in the link above you have it made.

Good luck.

Yeah cause without the correct paperwork it would be impossible for a terrorist to SBR a rifle

I've been wanting to go the trust route for a while.  What's a good ballpark price for one set up by a knowledgable lawyer?

You are not alone...  The CLEO signature has become a political hot potato.  Most don't understand what it is, and even when they do, many don't sign because they'd hate to let it get out among the voters that they 'allowed' you to get an NFA weapon.

ok, coffee has not totally kicked in yet, but, last traffic I saw concerning setting up an NFA Trust here in PA was around $1000-$1500, but it was the shizzle. Lawyer specialized in this kind of stuff, and was highly reccomended. You can do one yourself, and Quicken Willmaker may have the capability? (I have a copy, checking that out now)... but doing it through a knowledgeable lawyer may be the best way to go. Gulp, I don't even care for lawyers, and I can't believe I said that, but, its better safe, than sorry. Just my two cents. I 've done two Form 1's, and my local LEO was very cool about it.

My local CLEO will sign off with no problem, but eventually I'll PCS, plus I would rather my wife were permitted unsupervised access to them, so I've been thinking of the trust route.

Kinda doubt the base legal office would have the expertise in the area.  Might check anyway, you never know.
