So I was talking to my mother today and we were talking about how some people we know
do things that we would consider very abnormal. She proceeds to tell me that she has a coworker whose family takes showers together. The WHOLE family. The mother (her coworker), her husband, and her middle school age son and daughter. All in the same shower together. ![]() ![]()
She told my mother this in a casual conversation like it was totally normal.
I have NEVER heard of this before and was wondering if anyone else has. They are not part of some strange religion or members of a cult of any kind as far as I know. I just know they're from Louisiana. ![]()

I think there must be some details missing. In some cultures/countries or regions the family and even strangers bath together in something like a hot tub, large pool of water or hot spring. Saunas as well, Finland and Japan for example. +1 I saw this in Japan when I was there. While initially shocked, I quickly gathered it was simply no big deal.............................

I was watching Penn and Teller: Bullshit! a while back and they discussed something called "Family cloth" or some other similar name.
Basically, the family takes old clothing and cuts it into squares. They then wipe their ass with said squares, and put them in a bucket near the shitter to wash and reuse.
There are some people who take Going Green a little too fucking far. |

Yeah I would have thought it was a joke, but when you tell somebody a joke
like that you usually don't make it about yourself.
At first I figured the kids were small or something because that woudln't really be that abnormal if they were three or four. When she told me the kids were like 6th and 8th grade I was like Im not saying they should be thrown in prison or that it's any of my business to begin with. I'm simply saying it's not a choice *I* would make with my family.
