Nearly 4000 Federal troops witness the official change of command ceremony that took place this Christmas morning, 2009.
After nearly 40 years of faithful service, Marlin Glenfield stepped off into retirement. His career began around 1970 when he appeared on the scene bright and early one other Christmas morning. His most active years were during the decade of the Seventies when he found himself in mortal combat against a never ending horde of soda cans, squirrels, and an occasional rat. In his later years, his activity waned but was still called upon from time to time to dispatch enemy vermin and prove his worth against circles printed on paper.
While he may assume his long overdue position at the rear of his retirement home safe, he will always live in our memories as the most called upon warrior in our arsenal to date, who has sent more projectiles toward their destination than any of his more powerful and expensive colleagues.
Taking his place is the young but capable Ruger 10/22. With an enviable reputation and an appetite for infinite upgrades, he is sure to carry on the mission with diligence and expediency.
Let us wish both of these venerable gentlemen Godspeed in the years to come.

Godspeed, Glenfield. Your service is noteworthy, and you have done honor to your family name. May you eventually find use again with the next generation.

Yes. Two of my children went in together to get it for me.

I think you will find that your Marlin will not go into retirement. It is a superior firearm and you will continue to shoot it, though you will shoot the 10/22 as well.

In true Arfcom tradition, I have both (and plan on keeping it that way)
