Thats idiotic.

I hold no ill will towards my parents for "lying" And my kids hold none towards me.

Sheesh  , its a nice holiday tradition that hurts no one.

The length of time you can make them believe in Santa, is in direct proportion to how good a parent you are.

That's what I'm talking about....Way to go DAD! We did the same thing. It wasn't real popular with the grandparents. If I'm going to teach my kids not to lie I need to lead by example.

It's great when they come home and tell you how stupid the kids are at school

both kids figured it out by 9 years old ...

it's when they started discussing it in school ...

rapracing is one of those parents who's daughter gets knocked up at 13 because her parents took the easy route of just telling their kids the truth instead of using pleasant traditions to instill a sense of charity and kindness ...

kind of parents who raised river pheonix ...

Not only have I raised my kids to believe in Santa, I raised them to NEVER "come home and tell me how stupid the kids are at school".
In fact, if my kids DID "come home and tell me how stupid the kids are at school", they would receive some needed guidance -thankfully, this won't be necessary.

The magic of Santa and the Christmas Spirit is the exact OPPOSITE of judging and labeling his fellow children as "stupid".

My mother in law still tells the kids that there is santa and she knows that we did not teach them that way.  My kids say, "Santa is not real, Christmas is about Jesus"!

Santa is real.

Kids just need a physical manifestation of the joy of the season until they can get it themselves.

BAH HUMBUG!

I'm going to lie to my kids for maybe 10 years and get them to believe that a dude in a fancy red suit with a sleigh full of gifts and 8 flying reindeer will decide who's naughty or nice and deliver gifts only to nice children all around the world in a single night.

OR

I'm going to lie to my kids for all of their life and get them to believe that a dude in the sky watches over you, but never answers you, and decides who's naughty or nice and takes all the nice people up into the sky to live with him on clouds where you can see all your dead relatives again and worship the dude for all eternity.

FUCK YOU - I'll do BOTH.

Mind your own damn business.

Trolls... the lot of you.

I dont teach my kids to believe in Santa. Its all a myth anyways.

I also make sure to tell them at night how fucked up the world is and at the age of 7 teach them how kids are raped and murdered sometimes at night in their rooms. Why lie to them. It happens...I am certain that this too is good for them to know....

Kids are supposed to be kids in my opinion. Let them learn the truth about life at a later date. Now it is time to be kids.

You don't know what you are talking about. My 3 yr old has nearly completed the Kindergarten curriculum, and she is super excited for Santa.

Their pure excitement, wonder, and joy is every reason to do it.

Sooo - STFU or go troll somewhere else.

When all the dreams of children
Once lost will all be found
That's all I want
When Christmas Comes to Town

This kind of sums up how I feel about Christmas. It's the one time of the year, that no matter how old you are, you remember what it's like to be a kid again. The pure joy you see on kids faces when they rip into a gift, and for that brief moment, all the bad in the world goes away. I'll let my children(when I have them) believe in Santa for as long as they want, and when they stop believing, or ask me about Santa I'll try my best to teach them this.
