Guys, i'm looking to expand the weapons list by moving into the previously untouched (by me) realm of FAL's.
While its clear they are pricey, I looked through Enterprise Arms site and saw some lower prices. But..I know little or nothing of this bunch. I would appreciate any info the hive may have on the subject weapon or company.  Don't blame me I just love 7.62mm x 51.

IMO, Enterprise is not recommended for anybody but a good FAL builder.  The recievers are often out of spec and fully assembled guns may have some bubba work done to account for this...

At least this was the reputation back in the day...

If you want an FAL, then you should do it right.

Save your money and buy a DSA. They are expensive, but they are the best. Anything else and you're increasing your chances of being dissatisfied.

My advice, take it or leave it.

falfiles.com  Then go to  message boards.  Everything you ever wanted to know about FALs.  Very good archives on building and fixing.  Have fun!

Arfcom has a Fal Discussion Thread  Click on Armory.  See above on th header bar.  Have more fun.

This

The same advice goes for HK91 rifles.  Either buy a HK or a PTR.

FAL either buy a FN or DSA.  Imbel is ok.

AIM had DSA STG58s for $1,100 a while back.  While they are not cheap, it is a reasonable price for a very good rifle.

Look for an Imbel receiver built STG-58 kit. They are affordable and the Steyr barrel in the STG kits are AMAZING barrels.
Cost, around $1K.

Look for an Imbel, I have 2 and they are one of the best. In fact, they still build them for several militaries around the world. They are real deal mil spec fals, mine is accurate as well.

Last gun show I went to had a FAL for sale for $600.  I was sorely tempted but held off.  I wrote down the shop in case I wanted to go get it after the show.  I came back to ARFCOM and researched the manufacturer because I hadn't heard of them:  Hesse.  Glad I stayed away.

Go to the forums on Falfiles.  FAL's priced reasonably (for the most part there).

Of the "factory guns" hierarchy is as follows:

FN

Springfield Armory (Factory Imbel)

DSA

Everyone else

Kit built guns are as good as the builder who built them and the kit's condition.  There are many that rival or even exceed factory builds, but they can vary widely in quality.
