Not sure if this belongs in GD but the comp. seems to be taking a dump. Boot screen has tiny green dots all over it - but it does boot. Screen refresh rate seems much slower (cant scroll fast like I used to). Device manager says my video card cant start "this device cant start" is what it says). Currently running a DELL XPS desktop. Had a drive crash in it a year ago and swapped that one out. Currently running a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT card in it. Looks like I'm going to have to swap out to a new one before Christmas.
My son plays online games so I need a pretty good card - not a 700 buck top of the line one but one that cooks. I really dont know what the current market has out there for mid to high end stuff. I'm about to start searching would like to stick with NVIDIA but have also run ATI, Radeons and the like. Would really like to keep it around 300 but if I HAD to I could go higher. Any recommendations from the hive? Damn we got 26" of snow here last night and I've been digging all day. |
