This might not look like much to you northerners, but to us Virginy folk this is a straight up snow apocalypse

*sigh* there's so much ugly in the world, it's nice to see some beauty every once in a while, just to remind you that it's still out there.

God bless, merry Christmas!

I have wanted snow like that in the CA valley forever. It would shut us down for a week. The bums would die, the Guard would be called out and I80 would be wrecks from the foothills to San Fran.

The news goes apeshit when it rains and covers it nonstop if the wind gets above 30mph in a storm.

Lol, feel free to laugh away...

As you can see in the pic, my car is a Camaro...with rear wheel drive...and a V8

Snow + my car = ded. What really sucks is that I was supposed to be working a table at a gun show in Roanoke tomorrow (or today I guess), which is about a 45 minute drive from where I live. Yeah, ain't hapnin

I drive a Mustang up here, at the moment.    Does just fine, so far.  Though anything over about 7 inches would make things iffy.  Anything over 10 and it's time to get the truck started.  And it's good to 30 inches.

Yay for southern snow ... from the north, and love it; living in the south and miss it.  Glad to hear you are appreciating it.

In MN if you lose control on the roads, you end up in a ditch or a corn field.

In VA (at least where I used to live) if you lose control on the road, you go off the mountain side.

Fucking Mid-Atlantic PUSSIES with snow.  The first big snowfall when I was in VA and what the fuck did I do?  MOUNTAIN BIKE.  Fuck cabin fever.  I PASSED most of the cars on the road, they were all gridlocked with their stupid M+S bullshit tires while I had studded monsters.  Fear not the glare ice, carbide studs crunched through.  Plus I was wearing lots of padding, the falls didn't hurt.

Now a monster ice storm?  That would be bad. But snow? pussies.

The Neutral Observer almost had a heart attack while digging His car out of a snow drift this morning with an e-tool.  Snow shovels are not standard in this part of the world.  This stuff is knee deep and even deeper in the drifts, and it is still coming down steadily.  Amazing.  The roads aren't cleared yet, so The Neutral Observer's efforts appear to be for nothing.

It's also very tiring to wade through deep snow.

Where do all the bums in DC go when stuff like this hits?  Are there going to be mass die offs over the next few days?

The mountains are getting hit worse than Lynchburg.  The Neutral Observer walked down to the nearest major road to see what was going on and they aren't even trying to clear them here.  There won't be any gunshow tomorrow.

Don't get much snow here.

Trying to convince the wife to move to somewhere colder.

Your Camaro is a great winter car, especially for snow
. As a former Mustang owner and current crew cheif for the Wifes Camaro I feel your pain. Awesome good weather car, add a wet road, well...

I don't recall it ever snowing while I was in Dam Neck back in the early 90's.  I still need to pick up a snow blower, I'm not busting my back anymore with clearing the slush pack at the end of the driveway.

Here in Roanoke, we just hit the 18" point at my house and still expect another 5-10" more today.  I was planning to go to the gun show in Salem today also but I am sure it is cancelled now.  People just freak out around here when a little snow falls.  Hell, I was out driving my Jeep in it all night last night shuttling family members all over the place.

I'm so pissed.

Last night my wife and went out, and it had just started to snow.  As we drove up to Williamsburg the snow got heavier.  On the way back to Newport News later, it was still coming down pretty good.  I'm thinking that we're really going to get some good snowfall.

We get home and it's really coming down, the huge flakes are quickly creating some depth.  Our dogs love snow, so we're out back playing in it, and then the wife heads upstairs for bed.  I'm staying up for a while, and around 10:00, the snow changes over to rain.

So now, all we have this morning is a cold rain.
