[ARCHIVED THREAD] - F-15 Eagle Defeated (Page 1 of 2)

No, you're wrong. The USAF hangar door was defeated by he f15. The f15, On it's way out, overheard saying "you can't stop me! I'm the juggernaught birtch! Don't you know who I am?" No kidding. The F-15 has a lot less damage and the hangar door a lot more damage than I would have thought. |
|
That was quick! Why did they cut the canopy open then? Or, why was it closed during an engine run? |
|
Quoted: That was during an Engine run in the hush house in either Mt. Home or Elemendorf if I remember right. They secured it properly and it broke it's moorings. F229's have some major power like somewhere around 25,000 hp. Yes F-15's do have parking brakes but in full burner that isn't going to stop them. Lakenheath 29,000 lbs of thrust Brake hold disengages when you go above idle on E models, A-D models do not have a brake hold switch. |

I'm thinking of the emergency brake handle. 4 years is long time to be away from the jet. That's what I get cross-training into to other differant airframes as well. |

Reminds me of a OPREP on a Class A mishap I saw about 2003-2004. F16 engine in hushhouse got destroyed. Didn't think much of it until I saw this: "Mounting bolts broke and engine departed the test stand." Think that would qualify as an OH SHIT moment? T-38 engine breaking loose
WTF? Did people not notice the thing coming loose? |
|
Quoted: I figured they would use more than just the arresting hook for an engine test. The arresting hook is plenty strong enough to hold one back in full AB as log as you hook it up correctly. In this case the E-5 that was running the jet failed to make sure it was connected correctly to the holdback. |

Not an airplane, but probably 5-6 yrs ago at Ellsworth AFB, SD we had this dipshit security forces SrA working a nightshift (that should give you a hint) was driving around the Mass Parking Area (MPA, where they keep the B-1's). He was driving along 80 Row. And for anyone that's been on the Flightline at EAFB know, Dock 83 sticks out, you have to turn right as you get to it in order to stay in the traffic flow. This dipshit's official story was as he was driving along he stuck his head out to look at some clouds.....and drove right into the side of the Dock 83. I don't mean he just hit it....he drove right through the wall. His partner said he was studying his CDC's......yeah, right and didn't see it coming. As usual, the limpwristed legal office couldn't say it was misconduct so he only got an LOR. Can't recall if the vehicle was totalled. If anyone here is stationed at EAFB today and you ever go by Dock 83 and wonder why it has that big patch on the west side of the hangar, now you know. You can thank SrA dipshit for that. Had to got to an "incident" once on 90 row as they were towing a B-1 in (think it was Dock 93). The docks have the big doors that are opened to allow the body and wings of the plane in, and above is another door that opens like a garage door to allow the vertical stabilizer to enter....someone forgot about that one....oops.. |

Is there a parking break on a jet? Dunno, but the canopy was cut open to get the driver out, so it I doubt it was a mechanic who did it testing the engine. Mechs run the plane with the canopy open to chat / scream at other mechs. seriously? Me thinks you know not of what you speak... |
