Well for those that remember my other thread, UPS decided to take it up a notch. My package went out for delivery and never returned. Both the receiver and myself as the shipper filed claim.

Here is what I've learned, verbatim from UPS employees over the phone today:

It's my fault for using their service when they're busy;

I should have used Same Day Air if the package was "so important to me."

"No one stole your package unless they just stole it"

"I don't know what kind of percentage of lost packages are found."

followed up by "How would any one even figure that out? This isn't NASA."

"Well since you filed a claim, we'll get back with you within 8 business days, unless there is another exception."

I asked what that meant, "Well, an exception... uhm something that makes us late"

FUCK UPS.

I have had a few problems with UPS but had lots of success with them.

When I have problems with them though, I too post on ARFCOM about my anger

I hope they find your box OP

They didn't do anything wrong. They are following the process which usually turns up any packages that are lost or misplace. BTW, the people you keep speaking to have absolutely no power or any idea what is going on they are so slammed.

And here you come again, defending them. Guess what. If you can't manage your business, you need to fix it, not blame the customer. You say "usually." What does that mean? A vast majority?

Several years ago I had an outfitter from New Mexico ship some dried and salted trophies to my taxidermist in Pennsylvania. UPS lost the whole box on the day it was supposed to be delivered. My sister lives about 20 minutes from the hub where it was lost so I called her and asked her to go down and raise some hell for me. My sister is very attractive and the guys there tried to help her out. They found the hides and racks in a dumpster with the box all fucked up. Driver must have been some anti hunter or lazy fuck and decided to pitch them. I still need to buy her some Steeler tickets......

this sounds EXACTLY like what UPS told me when i've had packages disappear into fucking limbo for several days...

"if it was that important you should have paid extra, because overnight and 2nd day are guaranteed"
"no shipping method is guaranteed, as we can always have some issue that prevents delivery"
"if you order it 2 or 3 day, that's how long it will take. in some cases ground might get there sooner"

UPS is fucking awful

I have shipped dozens of packages and received lots of stuff via UPS with no problems. They are

my preferred shipper. USPS has delivered my packages to my neighbor twice. Have not used FedEx in years.

I like UPS.

I have a FedEx story, if that counts.  My boss was on his way back from a customer visit, and decided to ship our ONLY WORKING UNIT back instead of carrying it through airport security.  It never showed.  When we filed an inquiry, the tracking stopped in Memphis (we're in Cincinnati).  No sign of the package in Memphis.  After 2 WEEKS the package shows up US Postal, with a postage due notice.  Boss's wife has family in Memphis, with relations that work at the Memphis FedEx facility.  Apparently, there's a chute that collects all the packages that the automated system can't read the bar codes on.  There happens to be a worker posted at this station, who's responsibility it is to correctly rout the packages.  He's on camera the whole time.  Apparently he decided his job was too hard, and just tossed the package onto the US Postal chute.  Hooray for the lowest common denominator.

UPS moves about 14 million packages a day.

Sometimes one or two go astray.

Sorry.

Sorry doesn't cut it. When a business fucks up, you don't blame the customer (especially in a situation where the customer had absolute no fault in the matter.) If you can't handle your business, fix it. Blaming me isn't a viable solution.

So sometimes they find them? God I hope so.

where I work we ship a few thousand packages a year

probably 85% UPS 10% USPS and 5%a regional company

the bad news if it disappears with UPS its probably gone

I have had USPS find shit after a few  weeks but not UPS

as for dealing with insurance with UPS I have had experiences at both ends of the spectrum its seems to be a dice roll on who is working your case  and unless you ship alot and have a local rep to have your back if they find against you then you are probably screwed

Blaming the guy on the phone isn't a viable option, either.

Nothing is perfect...(other than you, of course.)

They'll most likely find the package.

Are you kidding me? IT'S THE COMPANY'S FAULT. 100%. If a tornado came through and blew down UPS and destroyed all the packages, it's still their fault. I paid a significant sum of money to have a package delivered. They took my package in good faith (as they took my money.) When they lose it, it is THEIR FAULT. You should work for them, you have the UPS Can-Do attitude.

Actually,  I hear that UPS sometimes just randomly selects a package and loses it just to piss off guys like you.

For sport.

Tell me again who's fault it is? It's not UPS's fault to you. So who's is it? Or are companies not held responsible for their actions?

I'm sorry...I didn't realize that you just wanted to assess some blame.

Yes, UPS is evidently at fault.

Just a question, but why did you start a completely new thread on this?  Why not just update you old one?  We get it, you don't like UPS... The constant rambling is getting old.  I have had problems with shipping companies as well but I don't feel the need to make a thread on it, or two in this case, every time it happens.  It's a good thing everyone else on ARFCOM doesn't do that either or half of the threads would be "FUCK UPS/FEDEX/USPS" You will get your money back.  Quit bitching about it on here.  You don't like it don't ship with them again.. Problem fucking solved.  If UPS or any other shipping company had too many lost/damaged packages they wouldn't be in business.

Couldn't find the old thread. And I'd like to issue you a challenge:

Stay out of threads you don't want to read. I have faith in you, and feel you will be able to meet my challenge with admirable tenacity. Unless someone forced you to click on it, in which case I apologize and hope that by now you've struggled free and subdued your attacker.
