Just bought a Defender from a buddy and I played with it a little today for the first time. I have had a pump shotgun before so I am familiar with them, but this one just will not lock the bolt either with or without a shell in it. It is a 'Speed Pump' version and I understand they unlock after they are fired, but this thing doesn't lock. I cannot imagine that I am doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Oh, I need a quick feedback or I would have posted in the shotgun forum. Thanks!

My guess is the release is jammed up somehow or a spring is broke. Located on the front of the trigger guard.

Pull the pin that retains the trigger group.

Look for any debris in there that might be causing problems.

Some buddy.

That's all I have to add.  It's a simple device.  Like said, something is keeping the lug from locking up into barrel groove.

It's a rotating bolt design.

I will try this. I gotta wait til the wife is busy. It is a surprise gift for her. Yes, she asked for one. But she wants a pistol grip.

Thanks for the replies so far.

No dice. Completely disassembled. No real gunk or trash inside.

Soooo, I did a little more disassembly and saw some odd wear on a doo-hickey that didn't look right. Did a little mini prybar(tiny screwdriver) giggering, slapped that bitch back together and it locks up like a dream!

I guess I will pay my buddy the rest of the money I owe him.

Gunsmithing stuff is fun!®

All the replies gave me the confidence to fix this, thanks all, well...almost all!
