Has anyone contemplated the theological aspect of the whole "Global Warming" debate?
We live in a society that has replaced God with Science. We now find that (DUH!) Science is a lie. Have we now entered into the "Godless Times" predicted by history? Or am I overthinking shit again? |

Science is a lie? Holy fuck, I guess that computer you're using is a fucking illusion? The clean water you drink, the medicines you use, the car you drive, the electricity that heats and cools your home, every fucking thing you use every day of your life is a lie? Tell you what; next time you're gravely ill or injured, go see a priest instead of a doctor. See how that works out for you. Once again, I'm reminded that half of all people are of below average intelligence.

I'm very curious as to the origin of the delusion from Youngerrfers of the idea that if one theory or idea seems to be wrong or misguided the entire scientific body and its schools of thought are wrong. No one is replacing "God" with science. You OBVIOUSLY believe in many aspects of Science and the results of studies otherwise you wouldn't be on your computer (hey did you know the ideas, theories and practices behind all of that is considered a Science?). If you truly didn't believe in any of this you'd live in the desert in a cave. |

What people make out of Global Warming is what makes it a religion. It's no different than Christians attempting to use science (I.E. they're not using science but claim they are) to replace their faith with it. Science requires that every aspect of it be done correctly. Of course, mistakes happen and this is why peer review is an important part of finding out if things are accurate, but what they've done, and have done with global warming is just a bunch of bullshit. |

In my opinion this isn't a "religion vs. science" thing, it's a "what happens when people put all their faith in something without scrutinizing it and understanding it and asking questions about it because it makes them feel good" thing.
Lots of us here have a devout belief in God because we doubted first, then asked questions, then educated ourselves', then came to the conclusion that He must exist. Others took the same steps and arrived at the opposite conclusion. Either way it's a matter of faith in the end because neither true "religion" nor true "science" claims to have all the answers nor do they try to provide them. No one knows everything and some of us understand that, and we make decisions with that fact in mind. People who put blind faith into factions from either camp are ripe for the picking by anyone with an agenda because they are easily manipulated and led astray, and their lack of knowledge prevents them from seeing what's happening until it's too late. The folks who drank the Global Warming/Climate Change Kool-aide did so because they placed blind trust in the people who were telling them it was true. They saw any attempt to question it's validity as an assault on their faith, an assault on humanity, and took steps to prevent any further discussion. They trusted them to have all the answers and to be acting for the benefit of humanity. Their blindness allowed them to become useful idiots. |
