| 60 years old and the old prostate is giving me problems. Go on avodart to reduce my PSA number, and this drug is causing me lots of problems. Doc says to quit taking it. There is not a substitute. Anyone out there taking saw palmetto, and has it helped? Which brand are you taking? |

Saw palmetto is a ripoff.

| Not going to go into to many particulars here. I am younger than you but have my share of prostate problems. I take Prosta-Q from these guys http://www.farrlabs.com/ . I had chronic problems, but this seems to work. The problem is they are kinda pricey. I did the saw palmetto thing while my urologist was floundering on what might work. I found them after visiting MANY online support boards. It took me about two months following their dosage reccommendations. I don't have any ties with these guys and they are not FDA approved so you cannot get a prescription, it is considered a supplement or something like that. I have a very low post count because I never post, all I do is read. This post got me out of hiding because I can't stand not to tell you if you suffered like I did. I still have to go in and get an antibiotic about 1.5 times a year for swelling. Also, limiting my coffee and soda/caffeine content has really helped. I am 50 and have had this problem for about 4 years. This is the very best product that I have found in the natural arena in other words no side effects no oh by the way it kills your liver fine print. Prostate 5Lx by New Chapter. I buy it locally at a health food store. try Googling it for an on line supplier you wish to do business with.
As a side note I also had great success with Dr. Whittaker's Prostate formula. Since everyone's body's are different you may have to try a few to find out what works. I have tried many...many different products and these two are for real. After one day no more pain or 1/2 cup urgent trips to the can; no more 5-6 times up each night. Best of luck to you. Just thought I would another thought. I haven't ever found a straight up herb that worked by itself. For example straight pumpkin seeds or saw palmento. Always it seems that one needs several supplements mixed together to solve the problem. Almost all of the conncoctions available for prostate problems are a mix of some sort...but not all of them are effective. I went he cheap rout buying only one bottle at a time until i found something that was effective then I bought in quantity to save a bit of money. |
| The avodart caused me lots of problems. No errection and loss of sexual desire...never thought that would happen to me. Then I started growing boobs. I'm only 5'10" 170 lbs, very muscular...no fat, and my nipples started hurting. Then I noticed the swelling under my nipples and the doc said it was the drug. I stopped the drug 1 week ago and the doc said it will take about 2 months to get it out of my body. I will check out everything you guys have mentioned. |
