No pics yet but at the fun show in Medina today I got a Cetme, except that this one has HK furniture, with the built in Bi-Pod. Does this increase the value of the gun tremendously? Or is it just a little plus.

Did you check the headspacing?
Did the Century Monkey's grind the bolt to headspace it? How are the rollers? Is the cocking handle tube welded properly? Does it require a herculanean effort to operate the cocking handle? Does it seat Aluminum HK mags, Steel HK mags or just Steel CETME mags? How is the trigger? |

Yes No In good, good condition Very smooth Just Steel CETME mags Trigger is smooth, but definitely not easy, by an stretch. So is that a yes or no? |

Or is it just a little plus. It can only help with a CETME, maybe $50-75 more over the "going for now" stock CETME price if you tried to sell it now. Problem with the CEMTE is that CAI (Century Arms Int'l) has assembled alot of CETME kits in a very haphazard manner leading to wary buyers afraid of getting a lemon. Also you have the price of M80 ball working against you. Its about the only thing your gonna wanna feed the CETME, not .308 Win cause the CETME's beat the shit outta brass on extraction and the thinner walled .308 brass doesn't always standup to the CETME's violent extraction. ETA: Not a CETME hater, had one for a few years (got it for around $300), sold it for a huge gain ($750: included 25 mags) to a young Mormon couple looking for a MBR for their emergency preps...they just wanted it to have a semi-auto rifle. They didn't even want to shoot it when I offered to take them to my range to give them some trigger time

It was a trade, but the the AR that I traded cost me $700. I got the CETME (in very good condition I might add), the HK Furniture, two mags, and 250 rounds of the aforementioned M80 Ball. I believe that it was at least a fair trade, if not slightly to my advantage seeing as all that I gave up was the used AR (Colt upper, superior arms lower). I also forgot to mention that this is the carbine version, without the flashider, and supposedly missing a few inches of barrel.
I have previously fired 2 other CETME's and loved them, and when he said he would throw in 250 rounds of the ammo I said sure. Im not an expert but it is in fine condition. I believe that the gun is darn near new (the more I look at it) and the guy just bought some used furniture because he liked the built in bi-pod. WIll post pics ASAP. |

I remember buying my Cetme, and thinking I get ALL this much gun for only $300? WOW - It was like "this is the best gun/lb. I have ever seen". Then at the range the gun gets real heavy, real fast. Once my thumb got just a tiny bit too close, and got whacked by that well designed charging handle whacker - no blood, but even a brush with that thing will remind you to not do it again. I'm sure that thing could sever a finger. Spanish/German design, I'd hate to be issued one to carry. Anyway, mine shot very nice, but the cost of .308 and the weight of the thing just made it impractical for me. obama sold it for me, and made me a handsome profit. I'd say one in great condition is worth maybe $450 tops, but I'd never buy another - if I need .308 I use my Remington 700 SPS Tactical. Good luck with yours, with the ammo and upgrades it sounds close to a deal - especially if you're happy. |
