The GF wants a bread maker, I assume to facilitate making my sammiches easier (just kidding dear).
I've never had any bread out of one of these things. Opinions? Found this at target and it has good reviews from amazon as well. Looking to spend around 100 bucks. I'm sort of a plain white bread kind of guy. Useful or spend the money on ammo?? http://www.target.com/Breadman-Stainless-Steel-Breadmaker/dp/B000FZZ0VE/ref=br_1_3?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=1041752&node=1041752&searchRank=price&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=Breadman%20Stainless%20Steel%20Breadmaker |

I have an older Oster machine. Love it. Makes the house smell like fresh baked bread. http://www.krusteaz.com/brands/krusteaz/bread_machine_mixes/ The cinnamon raisin is fantastic. |

If your gf is requesting food making items, you give them to her. You don't fight it or deny her the right to make you food.
Geez, guys. The breadmaker has good reviews. Amazon has it for 6 bucks cheaper. http://www.amazon.com/Breadman-TR875-2-Pound-Breadmaker-Stainless/dp/B000FZZ0VE |

Indeed, bread machines can be the exception to the rule of "no more counter space clutter". If you use it regularly, and figure out all the temperaments of the machine and the ingredients, they're awesome, can save you a few bucks, or get you out of that shitty cheap bread and makin' some awesome sammich breads on the cheap. They do take some getting used to though, and can be finicky about ingredients, but once you're past that it's a sweet time saver with sweet rewards. |

My daughters bought me this bread maker last fathers day and I absolutely love it.

Every second hand shop, thrift store, and salvation army has dozens of unwanted/unused bread machines for sale for pennies on the dollar.
For most people, they seem like a great idea until the novelty wears off after the third or 4th loaf, then they're just taking up space. |

The only redeeming thing to ever come out of the New York Times. You don't need a bread machine. That's my Dutch oven bread recipie, but with spelt and barley as well. If you want a good instant yeast, most bread machine instant yeasts for whole grain bread are real powerhouses. |

the bride wanted one a couple years back. I pulled out the stops an bought her a zojirushi for about $200. Two years ago. For about a year we didn't buy bread. We now are down to a couple loaves a week, but walking in from hunting yesterday afternoon, the house smelled of bread. You can buy 25# of bread flour at Sams club at a decent price. Sometimes, we just use it to make the dough, and then mess with it to make other types of bread in the oven. Like french or italian breads. I like those long skinny baguettes. |

The Ranger is right on here - it's a pretty sweet investment. Plus, one of my psych books told me that the smell of fresh baked bread is the #1 arousal scent they found.
