When a background check is done, how do they determine if you're to be granted the privilege of buying a firearm?

Is there a list of prohibited persons to which they compare the information on your form?

Or do they use DMV or some other large database which we are all in and compare the submitted information to?

I actually got to take a tour of the FBI offices where they do the NICS checks. It was very interesting.

There were about 10 rows of 20 operators each and every one of them had their very own "magic 8-ball"! Anything other than a yes or no answer means delayed. [:)]

You mean they finally upgraded to the Magic 8-ball? Last I heard, they were still using a hybrid system which involved dartboards and coin-flipping.
