Can anyone tell me what kind of laser was on the 45 longslide in the original terminator? I believe it was called a laser-lock sight but cannot find any info about them anywhere.

I can't recall the name- i think it lists it in the IMDB trivia. It was built by the precurser to Surefire though

My question is why does a TERMINATOR need a laser sight????

Pretty sure it was custom built by Surefire for the movie.  Believe it's mentioned in the Surefire X400 Live Fire Video listed on their website.

I'm pretty sure it was "Sure-fire" who made it.

Geeez... some people!  Obviously he came from the future and read the script so he knew he would need it for the movie.

I always liked how in the nightclub the terminator pulls out the open-bolt UZI and fires without loading or manipulating it in any way.  He was carrying it with the bolt locked back and loaded.  He fires the whole magazine, runs out of ammo and drops it.  He takes the .45 out of his jacket, and works the slide as he chambers a round before firing. In other words, the terminator didn't have a problem carrying the UZI in condition 1, but it didn't feel comfortable carrying a 1911 in condition 1 and carried it in condition 3.

thats because it wont matter if the terminator gets shot 12 times before he racks the slide.

So why not carry the UZI in a similar condition?

He never planned on using the 1911. The uzi would have done the job had it not been for Reese.

Considering that he fired several hundred rounds at Sarah Connor and never once hit her, I'm guessing it needs all the help it can get.

The most import fact to take away from the movie was that OJ almost got the part. However it was determinted no one could believe him as a cold blooded killer.

It's been a while since I've watched The Terminator but IIRC the terminator pulls out the longslide laser sighted .45 first, racking the slide & actually placing the dot on Sarah's forehead before getting blasted by Reese.  It isn't until the terminator gets up after recovering from the shotgun blasts that he pulls out the Uzi & goes to work.  The Uzi was plan B.

Wrong.  He uses the 1911 first, then goes for the uzi nine millahmeter once he decided to kill every fleeing person.
