its not Windows 7 slowing down the internet.  If you bought a prebuilt, uninstall the crapware they preinstalled. Also, if you're not doing so, use firefox.  I can't believe they even included IE with windows 7

my was an upgrade to win7. im running a dual intel with 4 gigs of ram and a 9800 1 gig video card with firefox and surfing is slow as hell.

HP with AMD Athlon II 620 quad-core 2.6ghz, 6gb ram, integrated GeForce 9100, Win 7 home premium, 64-bit.
55 processes. CPU usage 0-5%, physical memory ~22%.
Using firefox 3.5.4, and avg anti virus.
Other web surfing is fine, so far just arfcom that is slow, it's still bad today.
