I just noticed that there has never been a federal official who I voted for in an election. Ever. Yet I've been paying federal taxes since I was 16, two years too young to vote. So, how is this not "taxation without representation", the rallying cry for the original revolution in the 13 colonies. Saying that the theives in DC represent me is a joke; they don't give a fuck about me. Now they are giving $8k "tax credits", which is basically my money, to anyone who buys a house, and sending trillions to bankers who fucked up.
Seems like I should go throw some tea in the harbor. *Before someone assumes I'm one of those morons who doesn't vote or who votes for their uncle: - I've voted in every federal election since I was legally old enough (18). - I've voted for a member of a major party (either Republican or Democrat) for every office where both major parties were running. - Yes, I did vote for Kerry in 2004. I didn't (and still don't) believe that the US invasion of Iraq was justified, and didn't trust Bush not to endanger a couple friends who were in the military by invading another country without provocation. - I was too young to vote for Bush in 2000 by a couple months. |
