I need to replace the tires on my wife's Fusion.  It's got 205/60/R16 tires on it now.  Seems like an oddball looking at online stores.  Would putting 215/60/R16 sized tires on it be a big deal?

Depends, are you doing the change yourself or is tjhis what the tire dealer wants to sell you. If it will fit in your wheel well and clear the turning points, it may through off your speedometer some. I've done things like that in the past on old 760's aand 70's cars not so much a problem then.

Stay with the original size.  If you go one size  wider you will have to drop one size is section height.  With the current ultra-low profiles now in style, this would definitely degrade ride and perhaps cause handling problems on roads less smooth than a pool table.

Don't cheap out on tires!

You'll have to wait a couple weeks but I just bought Bridgestone Potenzas in 205-60R-15 for 49 bucks a tire off of tire rack. They're on back order at the moment.

Not too much of a differince, 123 mm (4.84 inches )vs 129 mm (5.07 inches) side wall height.

Less than a quarter inch.

The first number is the width of the tire in mm, the second is the ratio of sidewall height to width, in your case 60% of tire width. Third number is rim size ( easy one)

Is the car in WI for the winter?

If you love your wife, put on skinny snow tires for the winter (4 of them).

If Not, wide race slicks...................

Goodyear Assurance TripleTred

Yes, they are more money than some of the competition.

Yes, your wife will thank you.

They are excellent tires, especially in the snow. This is the voice of experience speaking.

Also, my brother has 205/55-16 TripleTreds on his VW Jetta, and he raves about them.

For all-season use, I suggest you stick to the same size, if possible.

215 60s will be taller than 205 60s.
