Ok, so I've got this project idea for a custom bolt rifle. This would include having the bolt and action treated with Robar's NP3 coating. My question is what finishes you can use afterwords. I imagine the assorted spray and bake "kotes" would take, but what about parkerizing, rust blueing or traditional blueing? And is this stuff really worth it? Anybody?

You want to finish that area twice?

Or am I not following?

Nah, well, yeah. I wanted to put the NP3 finish on the bolt, receiver, and internals, and then leave the bolt and interior of the receiver as they are. I want to rust blue the exterior of the receiver, or otherwise create the appearance of such afterwards.

NP3 IS the finish... why would you put anything over it?

Its basically a nickle finish with teflon in it.

I recommend NOT having the exterior done –– it will be slicker than hell and nothing will stick to it (having seen an MP-5, an AR, and an 870 done this way).

Interesting...

I have no clue, but it would probably be helpful to see if they can do portions of the item they are putting their finish onto and only NP3 the areas that you want to leave as such.

maybe?

I have it on many rifles and pistols.  Carrying one as I type this.  I love it.  Absolutely worth the price.

Do you know just how specifically they can apply the finish, ie. certain parts of the receiver only?

Poopy. Well...I guess that works then.
