I recently gave my grandmother in law the last computer I built myself.  I had 3 IDE hard drives in it and removed the third one before formatting and reinstalling XP.  It was a data drive, pictures and the like.  Now, I'd like to grab all of that stuff and put it on one of my other computers, but all my other machines are SATA and don't have IDE cables.

Is there some kind of usb adapter for IDE plug?  If there's no easy fix then I'll probably just toss the thing but figured I'd ask here first.

Most computer stores sell a USB adapter that will fit IDE, SATA or SCSI hard drives...run you about $20...

Buy an enclosure, stick your drive in it and voila!  You now have an external USB drive.  I've done this with a few of the larger old drives I have and they've all worked fine.
