I know I read some stuff about this on this part of the forum, but since i cannot search....

Experts please weigh in and let me know where to spend my hard earned cash and what you feel best bang for the buck is!

The TerraLUX TLE-5, is considered one of the best drop in replacements for the mag lite.

I would start there

If you like to fiddle around a bit, search Candlepower forums for some led mag mods.
I built two of these. One is a fullsize 3D and the other is cut down to 1D.

For real world use and about an hour or so of run-time, google "Mag85" or "Roar of the Pelican". For over the top brightness and something like 8-10 mins of run-time, google "Mag623". Better yet, just go to Candlepowerforums.com and take a look around.

The best maglight led conversion is made by surefire. It's a two step install. First you buy a surefire led flashlight, the you throw away your maglight. I recommend the surefire g2 led.
