I'm putting a lecture together on the American Revolution and want to imbed a 7 minute clip from the John Adams movie.  Here's the deal:  I have the web address:  http://popmodal.com/video/814/John-Adams––God-Save-The-American-States#

Now, the IT guy at the school has locked out alot of websites so the chances of being able to hyperlink this address and have the students watch it off of the interweb is slim.

What I'd like to do is save it to my computer so I know it'll be ready to go.  Can this be done?  If so, How?

Thanks guys.

does the it guy even know about popmodal?

most places just block the normal youtube whatever. and if it is blocked talk to you it staff and tell them what you want to do. They should be able to accommodate you if it means unblocking that site for the day.

VLC can capture Flash Clips from the Internet as long as they are not copy protected (so can RealPlayerSP) for later playback.

The site might be blocked, the network might be down.  Capturing it via VLC as mentioned above is a better option by far.  Save it locally for playback, avoid the network altogether.

okay, I downloaded realplayer to my computer and saved the video file.  Now I just have to get around the fact that the projector does not recognize my computer, only the schools, and the school doesn't allow downloading realplayer.

I wonder if I could burn it to a dvd through the realplayer, and play that dvd in the schools computer?  Would the school computer simply find another application to play the dvd?

Like said above, I want to be independent of the network just in case.  On any given day, something is broken and I hate to have my lectures screwed up because of school unreliability.

Could you just use a proxy site to access it?

The Full Version of RealplayerSP allows transcoding from FLV to several common media formats.

The newer versions are nothing but an IE shell...horrible still but not as bad as iTunes or QuickTime.
