So I am having a problem with my lawn tractor dieing when I cut the lawn. The magneto to a shit, and it took 2 weeks to get one.In that time the grass grew to 6" tall. I turned the water off on Sunday, so I don't think that wet grass it the problem. It has oil, and I just cleaned and re-oiled the air filter, any other ideas? It only dies when I engage the blade and try cutting grass. It's a Briggs & Straton 11hp engine if it matters.

Check the bearings that the blade shafts turn on. If the bearings have siezed up, it will kill it in a heartbeat. You should be able to reach under the deck (engine not running) and try to turn each blade individually by hand. If one is bad, do them all, the rest arent far behind.

I can engage the blade when I am on the dirt, and it runs fine.

Is the deck raised all the way up ? do you eject the grass bag it or is it a mulcher

Lowest gear, full engine speed.  Blade sharp?

Need more info. Are you engaging the blades on thick grass? Do they operate fine with no load? If it dies everytime you engage the blades regardless of resistance it's probably electrical IE: a safety switch. Drop the deck and inspect it to see if everything turns freely by hand to eliminate a bad bushing/bearing/obstruction.

If you can engage the blades, lower the deck, etc. on dirt on in the driveway (no resistance), then electrical's ok.

It's the FUEL.  I just fixed a neighbor's a couple weeks ago that did the same thing.  Don't even fuck with a carb rebuild kit, just buy a new carb, slap it on and you'll be fine.  These things are notorious for carbs getting clogged, fucking up, etc.  Less than $100 bucks.

That is exactly what the problem is, also it will only stay running on full choke.
