OK.....Ill try to say this in the most non judgmental way possible.

What do you drink then?

I find that beer tastes best when it's earned. After a hard day's work, nothing beats a tall cold one.

On most other days, I just drink wine.

Beer tastes better when you brew it yourself.

Less demand, lower prices for me.

It's definately an acquired taste and you can't mix it with things that taste sweet.  Don't eat a piece of a birthday cake or go straight from a pepsi to a beer and be surprised that it tastes like shit.

I'm not a big fan of beer ether (19) and don't plan on drinking for personal reasons that I would not like to share over the Internets.

Don't like beer?  You probably hate bacon and kick puppies too.

To me:

95% of the beer out there is shit.

But the 5% that isnt shit is great.

BTW I prefer a dry Mead to beer any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Samuel Smith's Russian Imperial Stout and chocolate cake go together really well.

Other sweet things could go with a brown ale like a Newcastle.

Life would suck if I didn't get to take the occasional vacation from sobriety.  Is it because alcoholism runs in your family?  It does in mine, didn't stop me.  My dad is a functional alcoholic, my grandpa was.  You would never know my dad was because he is one of the hardest working people I know, never comes to work drunk, and never acts drunk when he is.  I can drink 2 or 3 in the evening and then stop without getting drunk and maybe actually get drunk twice a month or so on the weekend.

You need to try better beer. Find some local micro brews in your area, 99% of them will let you try samples.

I'm not a huge fan of 'regular' beer.  I prefer a good import or micro, something along the lines of an ale or stout or vodka or whiskey or tequila or ...

I am a beer snob....

Faves:

Franziskaner Hefe-Weizen
Hoegaarden Belgian White
Sweetwater Summer Hummer (Sweetwater is my favorite domestic)

Oh yeah, and Fat Tire is OK....not great....just OK....

The Imperial Stout and chocolate cake is awesome pairing.  But if you can get it in your area a Mackeson XXX Stout with chocolate cake, brownies or cookies is the stuff.  It's a milk stout.  We can't get it around here anymore. :(  This is one of those beers that I really miss.  Most other beers you can you can find something similar.  But I have yet to find a milk stout (they are rare anyways) that even comes close to this one.  Our local microbrewery Empyrian Brewing Company makes a descent one but its no Mackison XXX stout.  I should find a clone recipe and make it myself.

My order of preference:

1. Guinness or Leinenkugels (depends on the situation)
2. Blue Moon/Smithwicks/Bass
3. Keystone Light/Coors Light(which I prefer in cans, strangely enough) or similar beers that are really water with some beer taste
4. A nice warm glass of my own piss
...
172. Bud Light

I like to drink a beer now and then, and sometimes I like to drink several beers.  But I don't see how some people can put away 15+ beers in 1 night, all the time.  Just like I couldn't imagine drinking 15 Mt. Dews, Cokes, or Monsters in 1 night.

Personally, I can't stand the smell or taste of beer.  Yeah, I've tried it, and just do not like it.  I don't drink alcohol anyway, so it really doesn't matter.

Oh, and I'm 46.

There's not one single generic "beer".  People can and will like one thing, but not another.

first time i had beer (coors light) i was like "its good, but not enough flavor."

Now i drink this and love it.
