I'm looking into making a pair of chinks and I'm looking for any online sources for patterns, tools, leather, whatever I need.  Surely there has to be one guy here that does this.

Tandy Leather has a store near me.  I bought some stuff and may know someone selling some tools.  What are you looking for?

I have none of the stuff I need.  I'm just getting into this.  I'd probably need a beginner's kit of some type.

Disclaimer:  I only buy leather to fix horse tack and make some small stuff and I'm not very good at it.  That being said, is there a Tandy store near you?  They offer classes, and all kinds a stuff needed to do what your looking at.

I have this kit:

I took classes and did leatherworking for quite a awhile. Be warned it can be time consuming, but rewarding. Tandy is indeed a great source for everything you need.

Try wsix.  He makes some nice leather sheaths for knives.  I have one of his sheaths for my Ontario RAT5.

Your link doesn't work and I don't think we have a Tandy's around here.

I found them, but Omaha is about 3.5 hrs. away from me.  I might give them a call and see what they recommend.  Thanks  for the help.

a little far away from you but my father and I have always gone to Oregon leather. They have always had anything and everything we have needed. they carry everything like leather, tools, patterns, and accessories. very friendly, great customer service, and a very wide selection.

I do some tooling on leather.  Tandys offers classes on saturdays around here.  BTW I'm always on the hunt for tools...used.  I make Belts, holsters and cowboy rigs.  Its fun, but it takes a lot of time.  It's like tattooing on leather.  Try Leather Crafters Journal too.
