I drink, on average 100 ounces of water over the course of a day. Some days less, most days more.

Pros, cons to imbibing this much H2O?

100 oz doesn't seem like that much.

They Institute of Medicine suggests you drink 3 Liters of liquid per day, and suggests that at minimum 1.5 liters of that is water.  There's roughly 34 ounces in a liter, so you're right on track.

I don't drink enough.

Everyone is different but you could throw your ph off enough to cause problems, but I doubt 100oz is enough.

I heard rule of thumb is half your body weight in ounces. I weigh 180, so I should drink about 90 ounces a day.

I put down a gallon a day religiously and I assure you it will do you no harm.

ETA: I weight 145-150lbs.

as long as you don't drink over 2gallons or you'll lose minerals electrolytes.

Too much, too quickly will create a hypotonic extracelluar matrix that has the potential to be just as dangerous as being in a dehydrated state.

Is 100oz too much?  Probably not.

a good judge of your hydration is your piss. If you pee 2 times a day and its dark, drink more. If you pee 15 times a day and its clear, you should hold back on the water intake. Also if you're drinking and  drinking and still only peeing like twice, make sure to eat healthy meals 3 times a day so you're not sweating out all your salts and minerals. Sweating is a big factor in what you should be intaking.

I drink at least 1.5 gallons a day, 2 on hot days. You'll be fine.

I normally drink about a gallon a day.

When I pack my own drinking water for any reason, I have to pack a gallon per day, and more in the summer.  You'll be fine.

I do the same if not more at times. Always feel better when guzzling water.

6 litres won't kill you either.  It's wholly dependent on how much salt or salty/salt-containing foods you consume with it.

The insides of your cells are kind of salty. The outsides are kind of salty, too. They're just about as salty normally. They're designed (IBTSS) that way. The concentrations of some things are different inside and out (like sodium and potassium ions), but overall, it's pretty close. It creates a sort of uphill-downhill energy system that gates on cells can use to do work. The cells work to maintain that "uphill-downhill" relationship.

But if you dilute the outsides of your cells (extracellular space) by drinking too much water, that relationship gets messed up. Cell membranes, the barriers between inside and outside, and semi-permeable membranes in general, allow saltiness to be equalized by letting water through. Too much water on the outside means the membranes will allow water to the insides. This messes with ion concentration and can cause some cells to swell.

The body is pretty good at maintaining concentrations, but just don't drink too much too fast.

I used to be like that, drinking nothing but soda and tea. I started drinking 64oz of water a day, and I felt MUCH better

Kind of off topic, but I've found that drinking lots of water, especially in the mornings, really helps my energy and focus.  Pretty sure eating healthy, taking vitamins, and exercising helps too.
