Any gunsmiths here in Missouri know anything about CETME's?

This is the first gun I have ever given up on. The cheap plastic stock broke years ago, so I took it apart to put a wood stock on it.

I have totally given up on getting the bolt put back into the rifle. I know I am doing something wrong with the bolt.

Any gunsmiths interested in taking on a small project?

I may just end up selling the rifle for any reasonable amount.

ETA: I have looked at every online resource possible, and still can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

Note that this guy is re-assembling a proper (but deactivated in his country) CETME.  Your semi auto will not have a pinned lower, it will use the 'shelf' instead.  You will also have a firing pin...

ok, here is the deal.  When you put the bolt back into the carrier you have to put it in in the out position (bolt extended towards the front).  If you install it with it back, the rollers will stick out and you cannot reinsert the bcg into the rifle.  You also cannot extend the bolt if you install it in the back position.

I am assuming this is the problem you are having?

Check out hkpro for directions on how to reinstall it if what I am saying does not make sense without pictures.  Also, a crescent wrench helps to get the bolt turned past the sticking point and you should be turning clockwise to reinstall.

To get the bolt back in, you have to SET the rollers in the position where they rest inside the bolt. ( firing pin retracted, rollers recessed).

Lots of folks have problems doing it the first time, but once you figure it out, it's like riding a bike.

There is good info here in the Armory section, look under Heckler & Koch.

Nice site!

I've always had problems getting the rollers retracted and can't remember exactly how I finally manage to get it reassembled - I know there's a lot of cursing involved.

For all things CETME(and G3) go to Military Firearm.com (formerly cetmerifles.com)

And a FYI, that "cheap plastic stock" was one of the required US compliance parts.

Cursing is very important...   Make sure you do a lot of that while putting it back together.

i have been putting an Ace stock on mine for the past two days, lets just say it wasn't a bolt on part.  It is on, but there was a lot of cussing to make it fit.

Cheaper Than Dirt (yeah, yeah, I know) used to practically give away CETME wood furniture, for $10 you got three pistol grips, two forestocks, two buttstocks, and plastic butt plates.   There's got to be ton of those floating around somewhere for replacements.
