Question for the police officers out there. Is it considered standard practice when frisking a suspect to pass the hand between the legs in the crotch area?

| Hell yes! If you don't and miss something, and jackass decides to slip the cuffs to the front, you could end up with a bullet in your head, all because you're too insecure to check a guy's crotch for weapons. There is a large case at the Sheriff's Office of items that have been taken off of inmates, among them being .38 revolvers, derringers, picks, shivs, full-blown tattoo guns, blades, razors, you name it. In this line of work, you cannot afford not to search everywhere on a suspect. Period. |

Yes, it's a notorious place to hide small weapons!! Because they do not think you will check there.
They have even been known to hide razor blades in their afro's. Hell. a local State prison found a guy with a .32 Auto shoved up his ass, they found it because he could not get it back out and could not shit for several days so they X-rayed him and found a gun up his ass!!
