Many of us have guns that we have gotten rid of for various reasons and later kicked our own asses because of it.... let's hear your sob stories. I'll start this depressing thread:
M1 Garand - sold during the reign of the ex-wife (bitch) pristine Colt 6001 car-15 - made a profit during the ban, but still..... S&W 1076 - bought it right after the FBI briefly went to this, sold it for a beretta 92...srsly....WTF??? |

I'll start as soon as I quit laughing beer through my nose.... How bout the .357 Dan Wesson that some punk stole out of the trunk of my car?? Love to find him some day... just for the record, if I ever found him I would beat him with a hairbrush for ya. Just sayin'

Unfortunately almost my whole collection got away from me, when my boat sank (financially speaking). Child support & other 'new' living expenses ate up the savings & collection over the last year and a quarter.
Casualties include my French MAS/MLE 49/56, Swiss K31's, 8mm Mausers, various AKs (Egyptian, Romanian, Yugo), my Russian, Yugo & Chinese SKS rifles, FALs and an AR15. Had to sell most of my pistols too, to pay the bills. |
| Oh geez... Not one I sold but still regret not buying. Something called a "Grendel" which was some fancy folding stock swedish sniper rilfle. I think the guy was a merc and looking to offload some stock to raise $$ and could have had it for a song... I was worried about parts and such and didn't buy it but man it was nice. Few months later he was looking to sell some really interesting stuff in private emails to people who had responded to his gunbroker ad for the Grendel... |

Quoted: Quoted: When i went unemployed I sold 2 ARs, an AK, and a Garand. As it turned out, I was only unemployed 2 weeks, but who knew. i feel your pain.... once sold a XD45 to pay a bill or two, but that didn't hurt as bad (wanted a glock anyway) Ayup. I really do hate that shit. Oh well. I still can arm the block. I spend my cabbage on high-end acoustic guitars now anyhow. |

Pristine condition H&K P7M8, one of the last ones made. Sold. Still regretting. Smith & Wesson Model 66 .357 Combat Magnum, nickel plated with Goncalo Alves grips. Sold. Still regretting. oooooh. always wanted a P7..... on a side note, was the squeeze-cocker hard to get used to, compared to conventional pistols? |
|
Some of these I have replaced since selling, also these are not all that I've sold over the years. FNC 16' Para Polytech Legend Underfolder Spas 12 Folder Uzi Model A Carbine Benelli M3 Top Folder Colt Gov't Carbine (blue) Barrett 99 Barrett 82 Beretta 92 DE 50 Kahr K9 Glock 21 Tec 9 Kimel AP9 (few of them) Mossberg Bullpup (factory) Several other AK's besides the Polytech GA Precision bolt guns (3 of them) |

Selling that piece was the stupidest gun related thing I've ever done. |

Daewoo DR 200, only got rid of it because I couldn't find parts for it. Didn't want to chance having a non functioning gun. I wish like hell a US company would make them. It beats the shit out of AR's. The South Koreans made the perfect AR+AK rifle, 20 some years ago and now the AR companies are trying to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

I've been thinking about selling some guns because I'm bored with them but I think I may end up regretting it. unless they are really worthless and you have no desire for them (read: they are POS hi-points), I would advise against it. sooner or later you may find them cool again |

Hell i can't even afford them. |

Oh lord, son, you made this thread for me?
Ok here are a few of my WTF was I thinking...... Damn near new Colt delta elite, blued........Could not get 350.00 at the funshow for it soooo traded it for a essex colt parts gone in .45 cause I just new 10mm was dead and .45 w king forever!!!!!!!!!! Before that now thats a good one, where did ya get the delta you ask....Well I traded a near mint NON refinished Remington Rand 1911 that I bought years ago from a gun show in california no less. paid 400 bucks no paper work or nothin. Wanted a new shiney to costumize .vs an old WWII relic then I got edumicated on guns (read research research research) I wont even bore you with the guns Ive had to sell due my Divorce and and other financial pitfalls.. S&W M27-2 3.5 bbl near new 4 Ars various bbl/uppers AK x2 les bear 1911 colt 1911 x2 (one ww11gun) Springfield 1911 3 other smiths... I normally don't miss firearms that I sell/trade, but there are a few I miss:
*Remington 870 Police. Sold it to quickly finish up a AR-15 build. Just had it setup perfectly, and now 870Ps are too expensive IMO. *SAR-2. Sold it to pay bills. Easy to justify since 5.45x39mm was hard to find then. *Lee Enfield No4Mk2. Traded it (+ cash) for a Marlin 336 Texan. I always wanted a 336T, but I found out that I really didn't like the straight stock. |

Couple of .303 SMLE's. Still in the tar paper wrap with tags on trigger guards. Made in the late 40's or mid 50's i think. Supposedly pulled out of an arsenal in britian or ireland.
Could have snapped up three of them ,but passed. Kick myself everytime I think about it.

Winchester Model 70 Featherweight (pre-64) in 6mm Remington. Free floated 22" barrel, glass bedded. Built for my dad by a super high quality smith in CO. It was originally a .30-06 Featherweight mfg in 1962. I wanted a Sig P228 really bad and traded this for it. I had no idea what a 6mm M70 was and had no idea how special it was. I still have 2 other pre-64 custom M70's from my dad (a .270 and a .300 WinMag) but would kill to find this one and get it back... It's the last gun that will ever leave my collection (prior to my demise, of course, at which time my son gets 'em). |

My dad did the similiar thing in the early 80's to get my sister and I back from California (ironic you live there) where my mom took us. He was the first man in Indiana to win custody of 2 children. I wish i could give you a big high 5 for being a #1 dad.

I think the worst part of selling my car-15 was the backstory of how i got it: while getting deployed for desert storm back in the day, my NG unit was mobilizing out of ft. mccoy, WI. i managed to find this neat old gun shop out in the middle of no where in the country. the old guy running it initially told me the AR was his personally and wouldn't sell it. then he kinda befriended me, let me come out whenever i wanted and shoot on his property and eventually sold me that gun. for a song.
later when i sold it (for the latest toy i wanted), i was still too young and dumb to realize what i now regret. i dunno about you, but there are things in llife that trigger specific memories with me. certain songs, movies, and the occasional firearm. i still have the memories of what it meant to have that brief "friendship", but now wish i had the hardware to prove it. uno mas cerveca, por favor... |
I've never sold anything. My dad rarely buys guns. He trades up for them. He traded an SP1 for a colt AR15A2 before I was born. I have ALWAYS wanted an SP1, so learning that when I was 13 made me pretty bummed. He traded a browning highpower for a glock. That glock is my favorite handgun, and he still has two browning highpowers, but he still mildly regrets it. ![]() |

I don't regret selling any.
I would however, love to get my hands on the cock suckers that broke into my truck and stole one of my AK's and one of my 1911's. I also regret having to turn in my service Smith 66 when I quit. However, since then I've bought 4 of my own, so I'm not really kicking myself in the ass for that move. |
