Right, that's how we think––However some people don't believe in natural/God Given rights, and need paper to tell them what to do.

Google dc vs Heller. It most certainly does cover semi auto rifles, and arms commonly used by the military.

If you jumped on a spacehip and found another planet.

Moved to that planet and settled there.

Someone came to your planet and started hurting your family

are you expected to just take it or would you be expected to defend yourself?

My land is my planet and I will defend it to the death.

I told one person that if my wife was getting raped in my house, I was already dead.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

You should just tell them, everyone has a natural right to freedom and liberty.  Many people will want to take that away and many will do it with force.  The 2nd is there to protect your rights, therefore it is a right in and of itself.

Well, actually the Second Amendment covers all arms whether the SC agrees or not, because Free Men say so.

The rest of our society will understand that on another day.

You're very correct in the way you are thinking. The Founders were thinking the same way.

2A does not grant any rights !  All it does is articulate the rights that we already have and it prevents (or was intended to prevent) laws being made that would suppress those pre-existing, inalienable rights.

Exactly.

It enables us to protect all of the other rights we have...........it in effect is the 'warranty' to them.

Good luck with your friends BTW.............really.
Some folks will just never get it.

It's common knowledge that the 2nd amendment only covers flintlock single shot rifles, pistols and cannon.

You don’t need the piece of paper. The Second Amendment doesn’t create the “Right to Keep and Bear Arms” it merely recognizes that it exists. If the amendment didn’t exist then you would still have the right.

And, if you read the amendment carefully you will notice that it talks about the “Right to Keep and Bear Arms” as a thing that already exists and not a thing that is being created by the amendment.

This brings up the question about what the “Right to Keep and Bear Arms” actually is. I’ll spare you my reasoning but I’ve concluded that it protects your right to own the basic weapon of an infantryman (rifle) and the basic weapons of the police (handgun and shotgun.) Although, it could extend to other weapons under certain conditions.

the 2nd amendment and how it does not cover handguns and Aks and ARs.

Actually, it does cover such things - if anything, it wouldn't cover their duck-hunting shotgun and deer-hunting rifle.

Tell them that, watch their heads explode.

Good point  -  with out it  firearms  would have been  outlawed   long before   I  was  born .     also   I  was looking at it  like  the  2nd  amendment gave us  the  right ,   instead of the fact  it  protects  are right .            The more I understand the  more Apprishation  I  have for this country and the founding fathers !

You are right. You DO NOT need a piece of Parchment Paper to give you the right to protect yourself or your family. God gave you that right and government wants to take that and  other rights from you.  Remember they are here to serve you.

I think the first protects all others, The second is if the first is taken from us.

We speak our mind and they listen, if we cant speak our mind and they dont listen then the 2nd comes to play.

One thing that people seem to lose sight of, and the anti run from, is that when the S2nd was written, if you had the money, you could own a warship with as many cannons as it could cary. The potential for destruction you rain down on a city or another ship was huge. Yet that was perfectly acceptable.

A lot more firepower than an AR, AK, etc.

One point I like to bring up is that it's the SECOND Amendment (please note the spelling, it only has 2 Ms in it, not three), not the fifth, or the seventh.

It's SECOND only to the Right of Free Speech, Freedom of Religion and Freedom to Peaceably Assemble.
